Wilmington, DE

Wilmington is the largest city in Delaware by population of nearly 75,000. Located along the Christina and Brandywine Rivers Wilmington was the first Swedish settlement in North America. Throughout the course of history, the most growth in the city occurred during the Civil War. The war called for a demand of goods including ships, rail cars, shows, gunpowder and more that were supplied by the city. Later on in the 1980’s more growth occurred following the Financial Center Development Act which liberalized laws governing banks making many national banks and financial institutions to open up in the city.

Today, Wilmington offers its residents countless things to do making for a great lifestyle. Many museums, galleries and gardens are found throughout along with several ethnic festivals and events being held during the year. From the Wilmington Riverfront to the Vintage Atlantic wine region there is plenty to do for residents and visitors alike.
